Configure SPF Records to Ensure Delivery of Email from BrightMove

We provide a high level overview of how to configure SPF records within your company's email server.  If you are not using our integration with Outlook, you will want to set up an SPF Record to ensure your emails are successfully delivered to candidates and hiring managers.

Please have your DNS Administrator add the following line to the DNS zone entry for your email domain:

“include:_spf.brightmove.com”

What is an SPF record?

Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is an email authentication method designed to detect and prevent the forging of sender addresses during the delivery of email.  This helps prevent spam by requiring the sender to prove they are legitimately allowed to send email for a specific domain name.  An SPF record is a configuration within the domain name owner's DNS zone file that authorizes email to be delivered on their behalf.

Creating an SPF Record:

To create an SPF record for a domain:

1. Log in to the DNS administrative console for your domain (for example, GoDaddy, Network Solutions, etc.).
2. Locate the page from which you can update the DNS records.
   You may need to enable advanced settings.
3. Create a TXT record containing this text: v=spf1 include:_spf.brightmove.com ~all
   
   Publishing an SPF record that uses -all instead of ~all may result in delivery problems.
   
   To authorize an additional mail server, add the server's IP address before just before the ~all argument using the format ip4:address or ip6:address. (See Sender Policy Framework for more details on the SPF format.)
4. If your registrar also requires a host setting (such as @), see the TXT records for specific domain providers list for precise instructions.
5. Save your changes.
   Keep in mind that changes to DNS records may take up to 48 hours to propagate throughout the Internet.
