This article guides you through the various UI customization options available in Power Search, including layout styles, column selection, sorting, paging, avatar display, and right-click actions.
Note: Availability of some customization features depends on your role (Recruiter, Hiring Manager, or Super User) and the permissions granted by your organization’s BrightMove administrator. You may not see or be able to use all options described here.
1. Choosing Your Layout: Grid vs. Table
Grid Layout
Ideal for tablet/mobile users or those who prefer a visual arrangement:Access by clicking the blue menu button and selecting Grid Results.
Offers a more condensed, mobile-friendly view.
Sort results via the Sort By dropdown and choose ascending/descending direction.
Default Table Layout
Remains available for those preferring a traditional table format.
2. Customizing Which Columns You See
To tailor your view:
Click the blue menu button (with the three bars in the upper right) and select Manage Search Fields.
Use drag-and-drop between the left (available fields) and right (active columns) panels.
When done, click Back to Search.
To revert changes, click Restore Defaults.
3. Sorting Results & Adjusting Page Size
Sorting
In table mode, click any column header to toggle ascending or descending sort.
Adjusting Items per Page
Click the Show [10] Per Page dropdown to choose from 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, or 500 items per page, ideal for bulk actions like mass emails or submissions.
4. Avatar Display Options
By default, entity avatars (e.g., candidates, managers) are fetched via Gravatar or based on email.
To hide avatars:
Click the blue menu button and select Hide Avatar, the change takes effect immediately.
To revert, follow the same steps and choose Show Avatar.
5. Disabling the Actions Menu on Right-Click
By default, right-clicking on a record in Power Search opens the Actions menu, giving quick access to tasks like sending emails, adding notes, or updating statuses.
If you prefer to use your browser’s native right-click menu (for copy, open in new tab, etc.), you can disable this feature:
Go to the blue menu button in Power Search.
Select Disable Actions Menu on Right-Click.
Once disabled, right-click will behave as it does elsewhere in your browser.
To re-enable the feature, return to the same menu option.
This customization can be especially useful for users who rely on browser shortcuts or want to avoid accidental record actions.

Custom columns let users surface the most relevant data at a glance.

Hiding avatars can enhance focus and reduce visual clutter when reviewing lists.
Right-click menu control lets you decide whether to prioritize BrightMove quick actions or standard browser functions.
