Stay in control of how you’re notified about activity in BrightMove. Notification settings in BrightMove are managed by alert type. BrightMove includes two types of alerts: email notifications and in-app sound alerts.
Email notifications are turned on by default and is a Company preference.
Sound alerts, on the other hand, are off by default and can be individually enabled.
Managing Email Notifications (Company-Level)
Administrators can enable or disable certain system email notifications from
Settings > Company Preferences.
Go to Settings > Company Preferences.
Use the search bar to find “Notification.”
You’ll see the following options:
Notification | Description |
Recruiter Notification of Job Creation | If enabled, assigned recruiters receive an email when a new job is created. Otherwise, the job will simply appear in their My Open Jobs portlet. |
Notify Recruiters of Job Application | Sends an email notification to assigned recruiters when a candidate applies to a job. |
Notification of Job Submittal | Sends an email notification to assigned recruiters when a candidate is submitted to the job. |
Mass Notify Single Email for Submittal (Dependent on Notify Submittal True) | When multiple candidates are submitted at once, this option consolidates them into a single email rather than sending one per submittal. |
Note: These are company-wide preferences, toggling these on or off affects all users within the company.
To disable notifications you don’t want sent, simply toggle them off using the switch to the right of each preference.
Managing Sound Alerts (User-Level)
BrightMove now includes an optional sound alert for in-app notifications.
By default, this setting is turned off for all users. Each user can manage their own sound preference individually.
To enable or disable sound alerts:
Navigate to Settings > Toggle Alerts.
Click to turn the sound alert on or off as desired.
When turned on, you’ll hear a notification sound when alerts become due.
Even if you disable the sound, you will still see the notification icon in the upper-right corner of BrightMove, this visual cue will not change.
Quick Summary
Email notifications are controlled at the company level in Settings > Company Preferences.

FAQ & Troubleshooting
Why am I not receiving email notifications?
Check with your system administrator to make sure the corresponding notification preferences are enabled under Settings > Company Preferences.
Also confirm that your spam filter or firewall is not blocking BrightMove emails.
Can I control which notifications I personally receive?
Not for email notifications. These settings are company-wide and affect all users equally. However, you can control whether you receive sound alerts using Settings > Toggle Alerts.
Do changes take effect immediately?
Yes. Once a toggle is turned on or off, the change is active immediately.
Will I miss important notifications if I turn off the sound alert?
No. Even with the sound disabled, you will continue to receive visual notifications via the bell icon in the top right corner of BrightMove.
Can I test the sound alert?
Yes. After enabling it, you’ll hear the sound play once to confirm it’s on. You’ll then hear it again whenever a new notification becomes due.
