BrightMove Power Search: Basic Search

A complete reference of available search fields by entity and category

Updated today

BrightMove Power Search helps you quickly find candidates, hiring managers, clients, and jobs. When performing a basic (non-Expert Mode) search, you have two ways to filter your results: basic search filters and Refine By.

Basic search filters are best when you know what you're looking for. Select a field from the "Search in" dropdown, enter your search term, and layer on additional filters to build a focused query - for example, searching by name, skill, company, or location.

Refine By works on results you already have. After running a search, the Refine By panel displays common attributes - like State, Client Name, or Post to Web - alongside record counts. Clicking any of those options narrows your current results without starting over, making it easy to drill down further (e.g., "all candidates in California" or "only jobs that are submittable").

In short: use basic search filters to define what you're looking for, then use Refine By to narrow down which records you see.

The sections below provide a full reference of every available search field and Refine By option, organized by entity (Candidate, Hiring Manager, Client, and Job) and category — so you can choose the right filters and get the most out of Power Search.
