When you click Manage on one of your Company Templates, you're switching your working context into that template, as if it were a company you're logged into. You keep your normal permissions and menu, just pointed at the template instead of your real account.
While you're in this mode, the left-nav button changes to Exit Template (shown in purple) so it's always clear you're configuring a template, not working in your real company. Click it anytime to return.
What you can configure on a template
Nearly every Settings and reference-data screen works against the template while you're managing it, including:
Company Profile (address, phone, offices, support contact)
Company Preferences
Security Roles
Custom Fields (UDF)
Email & Notification Templates
Automation Triggers
Requirement (Job) Templates
Basic Qualifications question bank
BrightForms
Interview Question bank
Vendors
Workgroups
Career Site / Company Portals
Subscription & Product settings
Custom Reports
Duplicate-detection settings
Reference/lookup data (statuses, types, sources, and similar dropdowns)
Everything you set up here carries over when you Copy the template to create a new client company.
What stays tied to your real company
A few things never switch to the template, because they involve real money, real communications, or legal records:
Billing and invoicing
Outbound email and SMS sending
Legal/compliance reports (e.g. OFCCP)
Third-party integration credentials (job board/marketplace, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter)
The Engage/texting on/off switch
Any "Request Help" workflow that creates a real opportunity/client record
A template is a configuration scratchpad. Nothing that sends real communications or money runs "as" a template.
A note on Engage preferences
You can edit the Engage preferences screen while managing a template, but the on/off switch always reflects your real company's plan, not the template's. If Engage is off on your real company, changes you make on the template won't be testable until you copy it into an active client company that has Engage enabled.
Typical workflow
From Settings > Company Templates, click Manage on a template.
Configure the settings you want new client companies to start with.
Click Exit Template to return to your real company.
Use Copy on the template to create a new client company pre-seeded with your settings.
