Wiz factors a candidate's Basic Qualification (BQ) answers into their evaluation score. How it's factored depends on whether the BQ is marked required-correct.
The "Automatic Wiz Submittal Evaluation" Preference
This preference's description states that candidates who are auto-declined for failing a required-correct BQ won't be evaluated by the automated eval. Manual evaluation is unaffected. Anyone can still run an eval on a declined candidate whenever they choose.
Required-Correct BQs
Answered correctly - the evaluation runs automatically as normal, with a full weighted score.
Answered incorrectly - the automated evaluation is skipped entirely; no score is generated automatically. A recruiter can still manually run the evaluation at any time. When run manually after a required-correct BQ failure, the overall score is 0, but the category scores still reflect the candidate's actual qualifications, and the summary explains that the candidate failed a required qualification.
Non-Required BQs (Multiple Choice or Essay)
These don't gate the evaluation. Even if answered poorly, the automated evaluation still runs normally. Wiz factors the answers into its analysis as context, without zeroing out the score. Essay/free-text answers are treated the same way: since there's no single correct answer, Wiz weighs the response as qualitative evidence alongside the rest of the candidate's qualifications, rather than scoring it right or wrong.
No BQs on the Job
The evaluation runs normally, and the summary notes that no BQs were provided.
Evaluation Metadata
The evaluation summary (in both ATS and Engage) shows the evaluation's date/time and the Submittal Eval version used, alongside the summary. This isn't shown on the req or applicant submittal tables themselves, only within the summary. Some older evaluations don't show a version number. This metadata helps explain why an older and newer evaluation of the same candidate might differ.
What Wiz Uses to Evaluate a Submittal
Wiz evaluates each submittal using all of the related information in BrightMove. You don't need to pick which notes or activities to include. This covers:
Job: title, public description, location (city, state, zip), and the remote, work-from-home, hybrid and part-time settings.
Job notes: every note on the job.
Candidate: profile location (city and state), the newest resume, and the cover letter.
Candidate notes and activities: every note and activity on the candidate, including subject, activity type and date.
Submittal activities: every activity on the submittal for that job, including the submittal status each one was recorded under.
Basic Qualification questions: the questions, the candidate's answers, which answers are correct, and whether a required-correct question was failed.
Re-evaluating a Submittal
Wiz doesn't re-evaluate a submittal on its own when information changes. To get an updated score, run the evaluation yourself:
From the submittal table: use the Wiz evaluation button in the score cell, or the More menu on the row.
From the evaluation summary: click the score dial to open the summary, then click Reevaluate.
For a whole job: on the job's Submittals tab, click Evaluate All. In the window that opens, check the box to re-run submittals that are already evaluated.
Usage fees apply to every evaluation.
When Nothing Has Changed
If you re-evaluate a submittal and none of the information Wiz uses has changed since the last evaluation, a message tells you that nothing has changed. No new evaluation runs. This works the same in the ATS and in Engage.
Score Change Indicator
After a manual re-evaluation, the Wiz score on the submittal table shows an indicator so you can see the score was updated. It appears on both the candidate's Submittals tab and the job's Submittals tab. If you re-evaluate from the evaluation summary, the result counts as viewed, so no indicator appears on the table. If you cancel before the evaluation finishes, it doesn't count as viewed.
Evaluation History
Once a submittal has more than one evaluation, the evaluation summary shows a history list:
Evaluations are listed newest first, and the one in use has a Current badge.
Each entry shows whether the score went up or down and by how much, or that it stayed the same.
Each entry shows its type: Initial Submittal for evaluations run automatically when the candidate is submitted, or Manual for evaluations a user ran.
Click an older entry to see its summary.
About Wiz AI Results
The evaluation summary includes this notice: "Wiz AI uses models to generate predictions. Usage fees apply. See Responsible AI and Terms of Service for full details." Results depend on the information available and can vary slightly between evaluations.
