What is a Submittal?
A Submittal connects a candidate to a job within BrightMove. Once a recruiter submits a candidate, you as the Hiring Manager can review that candidate’s details, provide feedback, and take action to move them forward or decline them.
Accessing Submittals Assigned to You
To view your assigned submittals:
Log into BrightMove.
Navigate to the submittals tab from the job profile.
Look for candidates whose submittal status is set to a stage visible to you (controlled by your company's Manager View settings).
Note: If you don’t see a candidate you’re expecting, the candidate may be in a status hidden from hiring managers. Contact your recruiter for assistance.
Reviewing a Candidate
When reviewing a submittal:
Open the candidate’s profile from the submittal list.
Review the attached resume, documents, and recruiter notes.
Use any attachments provided for your evaluation.
Review submittal comments and status history for additional context.
Providing Feedback
After reviewing a candidate:
Use the feedback fields provided (optional, depending on your company’s configuration).
Leave comments or notes for your recruiter regarding your decision or thoughts.
Indicate your interest level, interview availability, or specific questions as needed.
Moving a Submittal Forward or Declining
Depending on your permissions and process:
You may be able to directly update the candidate’s submittal status (e.g., approve for interview, reject).
Alternatively, submit your feedback and allow your recruiter to update the status on your behalf.
If you have access to change statuses:
Click Add Activity on the candidate you want to change
Select the next appropriate status from the dropdown.
Add required comments explaining your decision.
Save your update.
If your workflow uses a locked (straight-path) structure, some statuses may be restricted until prior steps are completed.
Using BrightFlow (Optional View)
If your company uses BrightFlow, you may have access to view your submittals visually in a Kanban-style board:
Each column represents a workflow stage.
Each card represents a candidate.
Drag-and-drop functionality may be available, depending on permissions.

Important Notes
Manager View Settings: Your ability to see and interact with candidates depends on statuses that are flagged as visible to managers. This is configured by your Super Users.
Comments: Always provide comments when prompted, these are visible to your recruiting team and help ensure a clear record of your feedback.
