Ensuring the visibility of older job postings is essential for maintaining strong candidate traffic. Over time, job boards may deprioritize or remove older postings from actively promoted feeds. However, there are effective steps you can take to refresh these postings and make them appear newer on job boards.
Challenges with Older Job Postings
Many job boards are set to suppress postings that are more than 90 days old. Such postings might no longer appear in standard filters or searches, which can significantly diminish their visibility to potential applicants.
Steps to Refresh Job Postings
Follow these strategies to enhance the visibility of older job postings:
1. Update the Open Date
One effective way to refresh a job posting is to update the "Open Date" field on your job profile:
Navigate to the relevant job profile.
Modify the "Open Date" to today’s date.
Updating the Open Date signals to job boards that the posting is current, increasing its likelihood of appearing in newer search feeds.
2. Repost or Duplicate the Job Posting
Another option involves creating a new version of the posting:
Duplicate or re-create the job posting as a newer listing.
This action pushes the job to appear as brand-new, thereby boosting its visibility.
Important Note: If you choose to duplicate or repost the job altogether this will skew your TTH and TTF metrics within BrightMove as the ATS will consider this a completely new job.
Tips and Best Practices
We do not recommend doing this more than once within a 45 day timeframe as this can be flagged by the job boards as potential spamming and could lead to your job being taken down completely.
Regularly review the status and performance of your job postings.
Avoid waiting until postings are completely suppressed by job boards, refresh them proactively.
Evaluate which types of job positions benefit most from updating visibility tactics (e.g., high-priority roles).
