Information Required to Enable Engage SMS

Engage SMS Activation Requirements

Updated over a week ago

To activate Engage SMS in your BrightMove account, your organization must complete a required messaging compliance and business verification process.

This process ensures:

  • Your organization is authorized to send business SMS messages

  • Messages are delivered reliably through carrier networks

  • Your account complies with messaging regulations

Because this includes identity validation and coordination with external messaging networks, activation is not immediate.

Estimated Timeline

Once all required information is received and validated, activation typically takes 10 business days.

Submitting complete and accurate information upfront helps prevent delays and ensures your SMS service is ready by your planned go-live date.

Required Business Information

Below is a detailed explanation of each required field, what it means, and why it is needed.

Company Details

Legal Business Name

The exact legal name of your company as registered with your tax authority.

Why it’s required: Verification systems validate your organization against official government records. The name must match your tax registration documentation exactly.

Tip: Do not use a DBA name unless it is your officially registered legal entity name.

Business Type

Your company’s legal structure (e.g., Corporation, LLC, Non-profit, Partnership, Sole Proprietorship).

Why it’s required: Legal structure affects how your organization is categorized for compliance and verification purposes.

Industry

The industry that most closely matches your business operations (e.g., Staffing & Recruiting, Healthcare, Technology).

Why it’s required: Certain industries have additional compliance requirements for SMS messaging.

Regions of Operation

The country or countries where your business actively operates.

Why it’s required: Messaging regulations vary by region and country.

Website URL

Your official company website.

Why it’s required: Your website helps validate your business identity and confirms the services you provide.

Your website should clearly reflect your legal business name and services.

Social Media Profile URLs (if available)

Links to official company pages (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook).

Why it’s required: These help further validate your brand presence and legitimacy.

Public or Private Company Status

Indicates whether your company is publicly traded or privately held.

If publicly traded, you must also provide:

  • Stock Exchange

  • Stock Ticker Symbol

Why it’s required: Public companies require additional identifying information for compliance verification.

Business Registration Information

Business Registration Identifier Type

The type of government-issued business identification number (e.g., EIN in the United States, VAT in the EU).

Why it’s required: This determines how your organization will be validated in official databases.

Business Registration Number

Your official tax ID number corresponding to the identifier type above.

Why it’s required: This is used to confirm your business registration status.

Important Notes:

  • The legal business name must exactly match the name associated with your registration number.

  • Newly issued tax IDs may take 30–90 days to appear in validation systems.

  • Recently registered businesses may experience temporary validation delays.

Business Identity

Business Identity Type

Indicates whether your company is:

  • A direct business sending SMS for its own communications

  • A reseller or service provider sending SMS on behalf of other brands

Why it’s required: This impacts how your messaging registration is structured and reviewed.

Authorized Representative

A company representative must be designated for verification purposes.

Required Details:

  • First and Last Name

  • Exact Job Title

  • Role/Position

  • Phone Number

  • Business Email Address

Why it’s required: Compliance regulations require a real individual associated with the business to confirm authorization. This person may receive verification or authentication requests during setup.

Business Address

Required Fields:

  • Company Name (for mailing purposes)

  • Street Address

  • Suite or Secondary Address (if applicable)

  • City

  • State/Province (two-letter abbreviation, if applicable)

  • Postal/ZIP Code

  • ISO Country Code

Why it’s required: Your business address must match official registration records to pass compliance validation.

ISO Country Code

The ISO Country Code is a standardized two-letter country abbreviation (ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 format) used internationally.

Examples:

  • United States = US

  • Canada = CA

  • United Kingdom = GB

  • Australia = AU

Why it’s required: Compliance systems use standardized country codes instead of full country names to ensure consistency and accurate international validation.

How to find it: Search online for “ISO country code for [your country]” or reference the official ISO country code list.
Most U.S.-based customers will enter US.

Important: Enter only the two-letter code, not the full country name.

SMS Verification Contact

Brand Contact Email

A monitored business email address used for authentication and verification steps.

Why it’s required: This email may receive time-sensitive verification requests that must be completed before SMS can be activated.

Skip Automatic Security Vetting (Skip Automatic Sec Vet)

This is a specialized configuration setting used only in limited circumstances.

What it does: Allows certain qualifying organizations to bypass automated security vetting in favor of manual review.

When it applies:

  • Low-volume messaging registrations

  • Certain regulated political organizations

  • Organizations that already have approved external campaign verification tokens

Important:
Most BrightMove customers should leave this field blank or set to false unless specifically instructed otherwise.

This setting should only be enabled if your organization has determined that it qualifies under one of the specific categories above. If you are unsure whether your organization qualifies, please consult with your internal compliance or operations team before selecting this option.

Important Reminders

  • All information must match official business records exactly.

  • Recently issued tax IDs may not validate immediately.

  • Incomplete or inconsistent information is the most common cause of delays.

  • Early submission significantly improves the likelihood of meeting your planned go-live date.
