Understanding Posting Errors on the Job Board Posting Tab

Identify, Diagnose, and Resolve Job Board Posting Issues

BrightMove displays posting status indicators on each job record so you can quickly see whether a job has been successfully distributed to job boards or if action is needed. This article explains how to identify a posting error, where to find more detail, and how to resolve the most common issues.

Status Indicators

On the Job Board Posting tab of a job record, each job board listed shows its own status icon:

  • Check mark: the job is included in the job board's feed.

  • Person icon: at least one application has come in through that job board.

  • Red exclamation icon: a problem occurred while posting the job to that job board.

Hover over an icon, or tab to it with your keyboard, to see what it means.

What to Do When You See a Posting Error

  1. Open the job record and go to the Job Board Posting tab.

  2. Find the red exclamation icon on the affected job board.

  3. Hover over the icon and click View logs in the tooltip. You can also click View Logs at the top right of the tab. The log shows the error message and the date and time it happened.

  4. Find the affected job board and its error message in the log.

  5. Apply the fix for that error, using the table below.

Automatic Reposting: once the problem is fixed, BrightMove tries to repost the job automatically. You don't need to resubmit it.

Indeed Distribution Errors

Indeed is one of the most common sources of distribution errors due to specific data requirements on the posting. The table below lists the most frequent errors, their causes, and how to resolve them.

Error: Recruiter missing email
Cause: The recruiter assigned to the job does not have an email address on their BrightMove profile.
Fix: Add an email address to the recruiter's profile in BrightMove, then allow the system to repost.

Error: Job missing state
Cause: No State is populated in the job record's location fields.
Fix: Add a State to the job record and save. The job will repost automatically.

Error: Job max salary < job min salary
Cause: The salary range is inverted (max is set lower than min), or no max salary value has been entered.
Fix: Correct the salary fields so that the minimum value is less than or equal to the maximum value.

Generic Posting Issue Badge

A job may show a posting issue badge if any of the following are true:

  • No web description is set: add a web description to the job.

  • Job is not published to web: publish the job to web.

  • Job is not approved: approve the job.

  • Job is not in a submittable status: move the job to a submittable status.

  • Job's status is flagged do not distribute: remove the flag if the job should be posted.

  • Job's open date is in the future: the job will post automatically once the open date arrives.

  • Job's end date has passed: extend or remove the end date if the job should still be posted.

  • The company is a sandbox account: sandbox accounts don't distribute to job boards.

  • The company hasn't been enabled for the job feed while on trial: contact BrightMove Support to enable the job feed.

ZipRecruiter-Specific Posting Issue Badge

A job may show a ZipRecruiter-specific posting issue badge if any of the following are true:

  • ZipRecruiter doesn't support the job's country.

  • The job's web description is too short for ZipRecruiter's requirements: lengthen the web description.

  • The job is missing location info ZipRecruiter requires: add the missing location details to the job.

Using the Job Board Report

For a broader view of posting activity across multiple jobs, use the Job Board Report available in BrightMove's reporting section. You can filter by date range, job board, and status to identify patterns or review historical distribution logs across your entire job pipeline.
