Watch: How to Create a Candidate Profile in BrightMove
Creating a Candidate:
Click Candidate in the left-side menu.
Click Create a new Candidate.
3. Enter the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address.
4. Click Check to run the Duplicate Prevention tool.
If an exact match is found (Name + Email), you’ll be taken to the existing profile.
If no match is found, you’ll proceed to the New Candidate screen.
5. If no existing profile was found by the duplicate check, the New Candidate screen will appear. Enter in the Candidate's information.
6. Click Save.
Congratulations! You have successfully created a profile for your candidate in BrightMove. The system will automatically pull up the Candidate Profile for you to view.
Viewing & Editing Candidate Information
The Candidate “baseball card” gives you a quick snapshot of your candidate’s key details, all in one place! It’s an easy way to view and update important info like name, contact details, current role, and more.
Candidate Profile Overview
Each candidate in BrightMove is assigned a unique BrightMove ID, shown at the top of their profile.
You will see the candidate’s name along with key details such as Address, Email, and Phone Number. To update any of these fields, click the pencil icon next to the item you want to edit.
Candidate Photo
If the candidate has a Gravatar account, their profile photo will appear automatically. If not, a geometric placeholder will display.
Note: For OFCCP-enabled accounts, candidate photos will not be displayed.
If you have the necessary permissions, you can also manually upload a photo:
Click the image square.
Paste an image URL or browse your computer to upload an image.
Make adjustments as needed, then click Save and Close.
Candidate Ranking
You can rank a candidate using the 5-star system. Click the desired number of stars to assign a rank. To clear the ranking, click the crossed-out icon next to the stars.
Current Title & Company
The candidate’s current job title and company will display on their profile. To update this information, be sure to update the current job in the Employment History tab. Past jobs will not update this section.
Social Media Accounts
You can link a candidate’s social media profiles for easy reference (supported networks: LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter).
If a profile is already connected, click the icon to open the account.
To connect a new social media profile:
Click the desired Social Media icon.
Locate and highlight the correct profile from the list.
When a checkmark appears, click to connect the profile.
After receiving a success message, close the window.
Candidate Profile Details
The Candidate Details panel appears just below the candidate’s overview (or “baseball card”). This panel allows you to view and update key information about the candidate, such as pay expectations, skills, work eligibility, availability, and source details.
If you are a Recruiter or a user with expanded permissions, you will also see additional fields, including sensitive data like Social Security Number (SSN), date of birth, employment status, and more detailed recruiting fields.
Fields Available to All Users
Status
Displays the candidate’s current status (Active, Inactive, etc.). Can be updated as needed.Status Note
Optional text field to add notes related to the candidate’s current status.Current Pay
The candidate’s current pay rate and type (Hourly, Salary, etc.). Editable.Desired Pay
The pay rate the candidate is seeking.Pay Comments
Optional field to capture any pay-related comments or special circumstances.Primary Skills

Candidate Tabs Overview
When viewing a Candidate Profile, different user types (Recruiters, Hiring Managers, or users with extended permissions) may see different tabs and options depending on your role and security permissions.
Below is an overview of available tabs, with notes on which user types typically see them:
Tabs Available to All Users (Recruiters, Hiring Managers, Executives)
Dashboard
Provides visual charts summarizing the candidate’s job title and company sources. Helpful for understanding candidate pipeline at a glance.
Resume
Displays the candidate’s uploaded resume in a clean and readable format.
Resume Cloud
Shows a word cloud highlighting common terms and keywords found in the candidate’s resume.
Attachments
Holds any additional documents uploaded to the candidate profile, such as certifications, cover letters, or other records.
Activities
Tracks all logged activities related to the candidate, such as emails, phone calls, interviews, and follow-ups.
Notes
A section for entering free-text notes and internal comments regarding the candidate.
Submittals
Lists all job submittals the candidate has been associated with, along with statuses and recruiter activity.
Employment History
Displays the candidate’s work history in a structured format. Can be updated to reflect current or previous roles.
Education
Shows the candidate’s educational background, such as degrees, certifications, and training.
Rate Card
Provides details related to the candidate’s pay rates, such as current rate, desired rate, and associated terms.
Exams
Lists any assessments or skills tests assigned to the candidate and their results.
References
Stores reference contacts linked to the candidate.
Folders
Allows you to organize candidates into folders for tracking, grouping, and reporting.
Forms
Displays any forms the candidate has completed or been assigned (such as onboarding paperwork).
Audit
Shows a log of changes made to the candidate’s record, along with the user and timestamp of each update.
Additional Tabs (Visible to Recruiters and Users with Extended Permissions)
EEOC
Section for recording Equal Employment Opportunity Commission-related candidate information for compliance tracking.
Skill Codes
Allows tagging of candidates with skill codes for more advanced search and matching.
Healthcare Credentials
Displays credentialing and license information for candidates in healthcare roles. Only appears if the candidate is marked as having a healthcare license.
