BrightMove's candidate portal has built-in support for UTM source tracking. When a candidate clicks a portal link that includes a ?utm_source= parameter, BrightMove automatically captures that value and assigns it as the applicant's source. No manual configuration required!
How It Works
When you share a portal link with a utm_source parameter appended to the URL, BrightMove handles the rest:
The source value is captured the moment a candidate lands on your portal
It pre-populates the source field as the candidate fills out their application
When the application is submitted, BrightMove matches the value to an existing applicant source in your account — or creates a new one automatically if no match is found
Example URL: https://j.brt.mv/ax.dorefresh=true&portalGK=17912&utm_source=LinkedIn
Any candidate who applies through that link will be tagged with LinkedIn as their source.
Where to Use This
This works anywhere you share your portal link — job boards, social media posts, email campaigns, recruiting events, or any other channel where you want to track where applicants are coming from. Simply append ?utm_source=YourSourceName to your portal URL before sharing.
Important: A Note on Consistency
Because BrightMove creates a new applicant source record automatically if the value doesn't already exist in your account, it's important to be consistent with how you format your UTM values.
For example, LinkedIn, linkedin, and LinkedIn_Spring2025 will each create separate source records and report independently. If your team uses multiple variations of the same source name across different links or campaigns, your source reporting will be fragmented.
Best practice: Decide on a standard naming convention for your UTM values and use it consistently across all links — especially for recurring channels like LinkedIn, Indeed, or your company careers page.
